Tell Us Detroit
The
2007 Motor City Bowl was a shootout between two
quarterbacks with different styles, both of whom enjoyed
a common goal – putting points on the board.
Throughout the years, the Mid-American Conference has
had great talent at the quarterback position, like Chad
Pennington from Marshall and now Dan LeFevour from
Central Michigan.
LeFevour had great skills in throwing the ball on
Wednesday night, as seen from a four-touchdown
performance in the Chippewas 51-48 loss to Purdue. The
dual-threat quarterback also had 32 carries for 107
yards and a touchdown.
LeFevour ran into a buzz saw in Purdue senior Curtis
Painter, who threw for a Motor City Bowl record 546
yards – 339 of which came in the first half where the
Boilermakers had a 34-13 lead.
Painter wasn't pretty, but found receiver after receiver
and knew how to use his tight end Dustin Keller in the
middle for a 62-yard touchdown reception.

LeFevour regained his patience in the second half,
completing 13-of-21 for 278 yards and four touchdowns,
helping push a CMU comeback to tie the game late. As a
junior, he will have an offseason to retool his arsenal.
Will he turn pro?
Another year as a Chippewa will help him be more patient
for a full 48 minutes, not just a half or a quarter.
