ROCKIN' ON THE RIVERFRONT RETURNS TO THE GM RENCEN DOWNTOWN DETROIT JUNE 27

After much fan anticipation, General Motors and WCSX-FM are ready to announce the bands for the third consecutive Rockin’ on the Riverfront classic rock concert series… Starting June 27, the popular FREE Friday night concerts will rock the Ren Cen’s Riverfront Plaza.

Rock the night away with this summer's hottest free concert series on the Detroit River: Rockin’ on the Riverfront. This year GM presents an all-star lineup of classic rock headliners. The fun starts every Friday night at 8 p.m. when the riverfront transforms into a spectacular stage for some of  classic rock's most unforgettable bands and the  latest lineup of cool GM vehicles. Space is first come, first serve -- so arrive early to secure your front row spot!

2008 Rockin' on the Riverfront Friday Lineup:

June 27 -- Pat Benatar
July 11 -- Mark Farner and Mitch Ryder
July 18 -- Starship, starring Mickey Thomas
July 25 -- Rick Derringer & Classic Rock All Stars
Aug. 1 -- The Guess Who
Aug. 8 -- Kansas
Aug. 15 -- Blue Oyster Cult
Aug. 22 -- Foreigner


What's Happening? Showtime -- 8 p.m.

Free Admission -- The Rockin’ on the Riverfront concert series is free and no advance tickets are necessary

Concert Seating -- Viewing space will be on a first-come, first-serve basis and guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets.


Food & Beverage -- Refreshments and a variety of food concessions will be available at several locations on the plaza. Outside food, beverages or coolers will not be permitted.

Pre-concert dinner options are available at the GM Renaissance Center’s delectable full service restaurants – Coach Insignia, Andiamo Riverfront, Seldom Blues, River Cafe, Sweet Lorraine's and Asian Village. Special promotions will be announced soon.

Parking -- Convenient parking is available for $5 per vehicle at the surface lot at the intersection of St. Antoine and Atwater, adjacent to the GM Renaissance Center. Valet parking is available at the GM Ren Cen North Lobby on Jefferson Avenue.

Boaters -- Boaters on the Detroit River are invited to anchor near the riverfront and enjoy the view of the stage from the water.
