You Go Detroit!
POV - Chrystal J. Edwards - Detroit
It
just wasn't in the cards for Stephen Curry and Davidson
College to move forward to the Final Four. Kansas
outstanding defense kept that from happening. Blocking
Curry was a necessary thing to do enabling him not to
get off that last shot. He is just that good!
Davidson College basketball players are a talented and
determined bunch, so this will not be the last we see of
them.
What I really want to talk about is how I enjoyed the
entire weekend in Downtown Detroit. I was fortunate to
attend the (2) Sweet Sixteen Games on Friday and the
Elite Eight Game on Sunday.
Excitement, Cheers, Anticipation are the adjectives that
come to mind.
If our mayor's woes were expected to be a distraction,
it did not happen. You see, I took notice and listened,
watched and walked. Believe me, I walked!

No one, I mean no one walked with any urgency. The
Detroit residents, suburbanite's, and visitors moved
around downtown like they did not have a care in the
world. Though the police was quite visible, I did not
see anyone be disruptive or disrespectful to our
Landmarks.
On Sunday, though it was not opened to the public,
people watched the Detroit Tigers practice for Monday's
opening from the outside gates of Comerica Park. I'm
sure that was a treat to see two fabulous structures
parallel to each other.
I walked by restaurants and other entertainment venues (
Hard Rock, Chelios, Gem, etc.), I had a great hamburger
at the Checker Bar, and told my nephew, what an absolute
boost to Detroit's economy, not to mention the area
hotel accommodations.
Detroit, this past weekend you displayed GREATNESS for
all to see, but I did not expect anything less!
