DETROIT
(Tell Us
Det) -
Herman
Cain,
the GOP
presidential
candidate
famous
for his
“999”
refrain
on the
economy,
brought
his
“Truth
Tour” to
Michigan
with
stops in
Detroit,
Michigan
State
and the
University
of
Michigan.
Cain
spoke
before
some 25
business
leaders
at a
luncheon
held
Thursday
at the
Detroit
Marriot
and
hammered
home
three
themes
he
advocates
for
stimulating
the
economy:
Deregulation,
Reduced
Taxes
and
Energy
Independence.
“The
biggest
fallacy
people
make is
that you
have to
raise
taxes to
raise
revenue,
it works
just the
opposite”
said
Cain.
Then,
Cain
added,
the
current
tax code
at the
federal
level
must be
replaced,
“Otherwise
we are
never
going to
boost
this
economy.”
Cain’s
presentation
veered
from
steps to
empower
the
economy
to
politics;
he took
shots at
President
Obama’s
policies
and
spoke
out
against
Proposal
2, a
Michigan
ballot
initiative
that
would
protect
collective
bargaining
through
an
amendment
to the
state
constitution.
Cain
said
“Right
to work
states
have the
lowest
rates of
unemployment.”
Tell Us
Detroit
spoke to
Cain
following
his
presentation
and
asked if
any his
positions
had been
adopted
by the
Republican
platform.
“Governor
Romney
has
essentially
adopted
my
energy
plain,
his is a
five-point
plan; he
agreed
on my
position
to
replace
Obamacare
and
rolling
back
regulations.”
Cain is
on a
30-day,
30-city
tour
that
began in
September
and will
travel
to
cities
throughout
the
country,
ending
in the
battle
ground
state of
Ohio on
November
1st.
