Detroit. The Passing of the Gavel is the kick-off
ceremony for the Annual Fight For Freedom Fund Dinner.
The Detroit Branch NAACP’s 53rd Annual Fight For Freedom
Fund Dinner will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2008 at
Cobo Center in Detroit. During the Passing of the Gavel

year’s dinner.
“The theme for this year’s 53rd Annual Fight For Freedom
Fund Dinner comes on the eve of the NAACP’s centennial
in 2009,” says Rev. Anthony. “It points the way towards
a turning point in our organization’s history. We will
have a new president and CEO leading the nations’
premier civil rights organization. In addition, we will
have a new president in the White House serving our
nation, potentially a woman or an African American. No
