By Edward Foxworth III/Tell Us Detroit

DETROIT (Tell Us Det) - Benefitting youth participation in the Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological & Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) along with the Detroit NAACP Youth Council, Corporate Sponsors, Civic Leaders, Elected Officials, Entrepreneur’s and Avid Golfers, participated in the 16th Annual Detroit NAACP “Come to Tee” Golf Outing at Twin Lakes Golf Club!

Designed to recruit, stimulate, improve and encourage high academic & cultural achievement among African-American high school students, the ACT-SO program encourages community volunteers and business leaders alike, to serve as mentors and coaches in this effort.

Reverend Wendell Anthony, President and Executive Director Donnell White along with this year’s co-chairs Willie Hampton & Michael Turner expressed extreme excitement at the outpouring of support as the organization continues its Centennial celebration. “Despite the tough economic times,” says Donnell, “so many Metro Detroiters continue to support our young people in there efforts on high academic achievement and we couldn’t be happier! That’s what this annual event has been about, for the past 16 years.”
