Three
Charged
and
Arraigned
in
Carjacking
Case

Police
arrested
three
males,
who were
arraigned
on
felony
charges
in
connection
to the
carjacking
of
Pastor
Marvin
Winans.
Due to
the
investigators
’hard
police
work,
and
citizens
who
began to
step up
with
calling
in tips,
the
following
individuals
were
arrested
and are
currently
sitting
in Wayne
County
Jail:
Defendant
Montoya
Givens
(20) was
arrested
on May
18,
2012,
around
12:20
p.m., in
the 3000
block of
Cortland.
Defendant
Brian
Keith
Young
(18) was
arrested
on May
19,
2012,
around
12:12
a.m., in
the
18000
block of
Joy Road
Defendant
Christopher
Moorehead
(20)
turned
himself
into
Detroit
Police
on May
19, 2012
around
10:00
p.m.
Chief
Godbee
made
this
statement:
“Due to
citizens’
tips,
enforcement
actions
by
patrol
officers
of the
10th
Precinct,
and
under
the
direction
of the
Commercial
Auto
Theft
unit,
these
individuals
were
apprehended
over a
four day
period."
Around
3:30
p.m.,
Wednesday
at a
CITGO
gas
station
in the
13300
block of
Linwood,
Winans,
aged 54,
had
finished
pumping
gas into
his
vehicle,
a purple
2012,
Infinity,
QX56, 4
door,
when he
was
approached
by four
male
suspects,
who
allegedly
physically
assault
and
robbed
him.
Friday
afternoon,
a 17 and
21
year-old
male
suspects
were
arrested
in
connection
to the
carjacking
of
Pastor
Marvin
Winans,
which
occurred
on May
16th,
according
to
Detroit
Chief of
Police
Ralph L.
Godbee,
Jr. By
Friday
night, a
third
suspect
was in
custody.
All
three
defendants
were
arraigned
on the
following
charges:1.
Carjacking
2.
Unarmed
Robbery
Each
have
received
$200,000
cash -
surety
bond
with
their
next
preliminary
examination
scheduled
for June
1, 2012
at 9:00
a.m.
