to cross
the
Ambassador
Bridge
during
ride
hosted
by Tour
de Troit
DETROIT,
MI - The
6th
annual
“Bike
the
Bridge”
hosted
by Tour
de
Troit,
returns
to
Detroit
on
Sunday,
October
11. A
total of
500
cyclists
will
ride
across
the
Ambassador
Bridge
during
Michigan’s
only
international
bike
ride.
This
year’s
“Bike
the
Bridge”
riders
will
gather
in Clark
Park in
historic
Southwest
Detroit
at 8
a.m. for
packet
pickup,
and the
ride
will
begin at
9 a.m.
sharp.
Riders
will
pedal
across
the
1.6-mile
Ambassador
Bridge
to
Windsor,
then
immediately
back
across
the
bridge
to
Detroit.
Cyclists
will
then
embark
on a
20-mile
ride
through
Detroit.
Upon
returning
to Clark
Park,
boxed
lunch
will be
provided
as part
of the
cost of
registration.
“Bike
the
Bridge
is one
of our
most
anticipated
rides of
the
year,”
said
Vittoria
Katanski,
Director,
Tour de
Troit.
“It’s
the only
opportunity
for
cyclists
to cross
one of
North
America’s
busiest
bridges
on two
wheels.”
Tour de
Troit
started
hosting
“Bike
the
Bridge”
in 2013.
The
previous
four
years of
the ride
were
managed
by a
small
group of
volunteers.
Registration
for the
ride is
now
closed
because
the
500-rider
limit
has been
reached.
No
day-of
registration
is
available
because
of
customs
regulations,
which
require
proof of
an
enhanced
driver’s
license
or
passport.
On
September
19 a
record
number
of 7,500
cyclists
and
volunteers
participated
in the
14th
annual
Tour de
Troit
bike
ride,
the
organization’s
signature
event
and
Michigan’s
largest
bike
ride.
