shredding

DETROIT,
MI -
Every
two
seconds
another
American
becomes
a victim
of
identity
fraud.
More
than $20
billion
was
stolen
from 13
million
identity
theft
victims
in 2012,
according
to the
Bureau
of
Justice
Statistics.
That’s
why AARP
Michigan
is
inviting
area
residents
to bring
old
documents
containing
personal
information
–
including
papers
with
social
security
numbers,
bank
statements,
tax
records,
ATM
receipts,
credit
card
statements
and
other
documents
-- to
our
shredding
truck
for
disposal
on Aug.
1-2 in
Detroit.
“People
need to
protect
themselves
from
identity
theft or
fraud,”
said
Jacqueline
Morrison,
AARP
Michigan
State
Director.
“This
shredding
service
can keep
personal
documents
out of
the
hands of
thieves.”

for

Outreach:

community

this
resource
to

the

free

truck
service
will
