Troit

Trip
DETROIT,

Tour de
Troit
event
organizers
announced
today
early-bird
registration
is now
open for
cyclists
wanting
to
participate
in the
11th
Annual
Tour de
Troit, a
bicycle
tour
through
Detroit’s
historic
districts.
For
participants
who
register
now
through
June 30,
the cost
is $35
per
rider
and $30
for
students.
“We are
excited
to again
host the
region’s
greatest
bicycle
tour,”
said
Vittoria
Katanksi,
Tour de
Troit
co-director.
“There
is no
better
way to
experience
the
Motor
City
than by
riding
through
its
spectacular
landmarks.”
After
June 30,
late
registration
costs
$40 per
rider
and $35
for
students.
The cost
increases
again on
September
1 to
$50/$45.
Day-of
registration
costs
$65 for
all
participants,
but
space is
limited
and
participants
are
encouraged
to
register
now.
Tour de
Troit
takes
place
Saturday,
September
15. The
event
offers
two
riding
paths –
one for
the more
recreational
rider
and
another
for more
experienced
cyclists.
The
leisure
course
runs
approximately
25 miles
and the
practiced
course
runs 62
miles,
without
escort.
Both
courses
start
and end
at
Roosevelt
Park in
Detroit
and are
sweeper
and
SAG-supported.
The ride
culminates
with a
party in
Roosevelt
Park in
the
shadow
of
Michigan
Central
Station
featuring
food and
drink
from
local
restaurants
and
purveyors.
Last
year,
4,400
cyclists
participated
– a
record
for the
Tour de
Troit.
The
event
increases
awareness
for
biking
as a
mode of
transportation
while
raising
money to
fund the
growing
greenways
network
in
Southeast
Michigan.
