Tell Us Detroit Spring/Summer 08 Journalism Internship
Program
If
you are seeking an opportunity to perform the duties of
a journalist with a local news service, where you will
actually report on stories rather than merely fetch
coffee, read on. The average intern in our program walks
away with up to twenty story clips by program end. Your
stories will be read worldwide.
The Journalism Internship Program provides opportunity
for undergraduate and graduate students who want to gain
hands-on experience in preparation for a successful
career in Journalism. The program runs from March 31 -
August 31, 2008.
Internships are available in the following
departments: Automotive, Business, City Desk,
Community, Culture, Entertainment, Features, Government,
Health and Wellness, Hi-Tech, Photography, Politics,
Science and Technology, Sports, Videography and
Web Development.

Requirements:
College students who have achieved second year
status are eligible. A variety of majors qualify
including Print Journalism, Broadcasting, Communication,
Public Relations, Advertising, English, Political
Science, Sports and more. Participants must have good
computer skills, excellent written and verbal
communication abilities and knowledge of current events.
A 3.0 GPA or above is recommended. Students must live in
the Detroit metro area during internship period, own a
computer with internet access, have transportation and
be able to meet the minimum time commitment.
Compensation:
This is an unpaid internship. The opportunity offers
the intern real-world skills as well as portfolio pieces
as part of career preparation. Students seeking college
credits should provide documentation on school
letterhead confirming that they will receive credit for
the internship. This documentation must be on file prior
to start date.
