DETROIT
(Tell Us

Motown
recording
artist
KEM and
his
organization
“Mack &
Third”
has
announced
his
third
“Mack &
Third
LIVE: A
Call to
Service”
event to
assist
organizations
that
support
the
homeless
community.
Headlining
the
event
will be
KEM
along

Frankie
Beverly

Sunday
August
26, 2012
at
Detroit’s
Cass
Park.
KEM
created
“Mack &
Third”
to give
back to
the
Detroit
homeless
community
that
supported
him
during
his time
of being
homeless.
The
concert
plans to
raise
funds
collect
canned
goods
for the
area’s
homeless
shelters
and food
banks
and to
also
provide
a free
getaway
for
Detroiters
from the
stresses
of their
current
situations.
“Mack &
Third is
about
giving
back,”
said
KEM.
“I’ve
been
fortunate
to
overcome
many
obstacles
including
being
addicted
and
homeless.
If it
weren’t
for
organizations
like the
Detroit
Rescue
Mission
and the
NSO, I
wouldn’t
be where
I am
today. I
want to
encourage
others
in their
current
situations
by
offering
something
tangible
like a
meal,
along
with the
hope
that
things
can get
better.
By
sharing
my music
with a
free
concert,
I also
hope to
inspire
others
to give
back.”
This
year’s
event
will
feature
“A Meal
and A
Message”
which is
aimed
specifically
for the
homeless
community.
Available
will be
several
food and
merchandise
vendors,
and free
health
screenings.
Last
years
event
totaled
over
52,000
people,
and
collected
100,000
canned
goods
serving
2,100
homeless
citizens.
Five
hours of
live
concert
entertainment
will be
provided
for the
night.
Concluding
the day
will be
performances
from KEM
himself
and some
soulful
music
Maze
feat.
Frankie
Beverly.
The
canned
goods,
merchandise,
beverage
and
other
financial
profits
from the
event
are
donated
to
organizations
that
assist
Metro
Detroit’s
homeless
community.
