Joyful Noise in the City: How Sweet The Sound!

DETROIT (Tell Us Det) - Verizon Wireless Experience brings Gospel music to Detroit Saturday night as some of the best church choirs in the mid-west United States came together at Joe Lewis Arena for the "How Sweet The Sound" singing competition.

The national gospel choir competition gives church choirs across the country a chance to win the title of “The Best Church Choir in America” and up to $50,000 in cash and prizes. CeCe Winans, gospel industry legend and winner of numerous GRAMMY® and Stellar Awards, will join co-host and GRAMMY-winning songwriter, producer, arranger and music director Donald Lawrence as the tour emcee at each of the 14 regional competitions and the finale. Marvin Sapp, Fred Hammond, Kurt Carr and more will join the competition as judges.

Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound gospel celebration pays tribute to gospel music and provides church choirs a platform to showcase their talent and community service to a broader community. The program, which made its national debut in 2008, has evolved into a year-long series of gospel experiences that unite communities and cities all across America.
