Gospel great to appear at Hot Sam's Menswear in Detroit's Campus Martius area today!

Discount, Concert Ticket Giveaways Part Of Wednesday Event

DETROIT, MI - Gospel Great J. Moss is building momentum this week for his musical salute to fathers by paying a visit to Hot Sam’s.

This Wednesday, June 11, 2012 from 1-3 p.m., J. Moss will join other male leadership organizations at the store, 127 Monroe, to salute fathers, offer ticket giveaways and discount packages to the Fathers Freedom & Praise show taking place June 17, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the Detroit Opera House.

“We all say we want to help the young men. This is the time,” said Tony Stovall, the owner of Hot Sam’s. “We want to celebrate fathers that may come in different forms—a stepfather, a grandfather, a spiritual father.”

Light refreshments will be served, and discounts on clothing will also be available.

Moss is headlining “Fathers, Freedom & Praise” which promises a stellar lineup of local gospel greats, including headliner J Moss, Kiki and Karen Clark Sheard, and Michon Young. Selected of God, the Detroit gospel group featured in the award-winning Chrysler television commercial is also scheduled to appear.

Several local pastors -- Bishop Charles Ellis III, Pastor Marvin Winans, Bishop Edgar Vann III, Bishop J. Drew Sheard and Pastor Tolan Morgan -- will also be honored that night.

A Cass Tech graduate, Moss has deep-running musical roots. He is the son of Bill Moss Sr., founder of the ‘70s gospel act Bill Moss & the Celestials, nephew to legendary gospel singer Dr. Mattie Moss Clark, and and cousin to her daughters, the Clark Sisters.

Tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster. For more information, contact the Detroit Opera House at 313.237.7464.

“I’m very humbled by this recognition, but also extremely excited that it comes on a day to honor fathers,” said Bishop Ellis. “When it comes to those who influence, impact, and shape our lives, at the top of the list are fathers.”

The concert is taking place as Moss, who has been touring the country opening for Yolanda Adams and CeCe Winans, is set to release his fourth album. Due out in July, it features Pastor Hezekiah Walker, James Fortune, Karen Clark Sheard, and many others. A native Detroiter and Cass Tech graduate, Moss has deep-running musical roots. He is the son of Bill Moss Sr., founder of the ‘70s gospel act Bill Moss & the Celestials, nephew to legendary gospel singer Dr. Mattie Moss Clark, and and cousin to her daughters, the Clark Sisters.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to be at home on stage with my cousins Karen and Kiki as well as Michon,” Moss said. “I believe that this is going to be one of the most powerful concerts this year in Detroit. People are going to be blessed in a very special way through the praise and energy that we are going to bring.”

Moss also said he will showcase songs from his new album.
“It’s a great gift for all fathers on this special day,” he said.
