The DIA Director’s Cut and DIA Away are comprehensive additions to the DIA Inside|Out art installation in the neighborhoods surrounding the Alger Theater, which runs through October.

DIA Director's Cut, takes place from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 29. At the Directors Cut, Salvador Salort-Pons, Director of the Detroit Institute of Arts discusses his vision for the museum, explores some of his favorite works of art, and answers questions from the community. Expanding on ways to make art, Friends of the Alger Theater hosts on Saturday, Oct. 1 silkscreen artist, Sarms Jabra in the theater lobby for a screen printing workshop from 12:00-5:00 p.m. Participants can bring an article of clothing such as a t-shirt, jeans, sweatpants, sweatshirt, scarf, or bag to screen a variety of ink colors and graphics that commemorate the day with the DIA. They create a unique souvenir of the Alger Theater as a welcoming destination for the arts.

All events are free and open to the public and are held at the Alger Theater, located at 16451 East Warren Avenue, Detroit, MI 48224.
