set to
release
his
anxiously-awaited
fourth
full-length
studio
album,
PROMISE
TO LOVE,
on
August
26, 2014
through
Motown
Records.
KEM’s
album
release
will
coincide
with his
fourth
‘MACK &
THIRD’
philanthropic
event in
his
hometown
Detroit.
‘Mack &
Third’
is an
all-day
concert,
fundraiser
and food
drive to
benefit
the
homeless
community,
which
will
take
place on
August
24,
2014.
The 2014
event
will
feature:
‘A Meal
& A
Message’
for
homeless
citizens
from
KEM;
several
food &
merchandise
vendors;
free
health
screenings
and
all-day
live
concert
and
comedic
entertainment
that
will
conclude
with
performances
by KEM
and The
O’Jays.
In 2012,
KEM
presented
his
third
‘Mack &
Third’
event at
Detroit’s
Cass
Park,
which
was
headlined
by Maze
ft.
Frankie
Beverly.
The
event
was
attended
by
55,000
fans,
provided
free,
hot
meals to
1,500
homeless
men,
women &
children
and
collected
in
excess
of
130,000
canned
goods.
Now
after a
year
break
last
year
KEM’s
2014
Mack &
Third
event
has a
new,
even
larger
location
-- The
New
Detroit
Conservancy
West
RiverWalk
Park at
1801 W.
Jefferson,
Detroit,
MI
48216.
The West
RiverWalk
site has
significant
meaning,
as KEM
spent
his
final
night of
homelessness
and
addiction
at that
location
on July
23,
1990.
The
larger
location
also
provides
the
capacity
to grow
in the
future,
including
the
expansion
of
services,
levels
of
assistance
and
audience
capacity.
With the
new
location
and the
new
partnership
with the
Detroit
Conservancy
in
place,
this
year’s
Mack &
Third is
a
ticketed
event.
All
profits
from the
event
will be
donated
to
organizations
that
provide
services
to the
area’s
homeless
community.
For a
small
donation
of
$5.00,
each
attendee
will
have
access
to a
full day
of local
and
National
Music
and
Comedic
Acts,
free
health
services,
a
Children's
PlayZone,
craft
and food
vendors
and
on-stage
giveaways.
All
attendees
are
encouraged
to bring
canned
goods to
donate
to
Detroit
area
shelters,
food
banks,
churches
and
organizations
that
service
the
homeless
and
hungry.
Children
15 and
under
are
free,
and must
be
accompanied
by an
adult. A
limited
number
of
premium
tickets
are
available
for
$50.00
each,
which
include:
seating
at the
front of
the
stage
and
access
to a
designated
entrance,
restroom
facilities
and
beverage
carts.
