percussion. The artists represent
diverse musical genres and regions
of the world including Africa,
India, China, Japan, the Caribbean,
Europe, Native America and Latin
America. The United States,
especially Detroit, shares the
global musical spotlight.

METRO DETROIT AREA IS BACK IN THE HORSE RACE
Opening day of racing at Pinnacle Race Course, is Friday,
July 18, 2008
 HURON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Opening
day for the inaugural season of racing at Pinnacle Race
Course, Michigan’s only thoroughbred race course, will be Friday,
July 18, 2008. The all new 320 acre Pinnacle Race Course
(PRC) is located just south of Metro Airport in Huron
Township. The new complex was developed by successful
banker Jerry Campbell, and his wife Felicia. Both
are long-time licensed horse trainers and owners of
thoroughbred horses.

Section
of I-96 to Close for 90 Days - View Maps
 Beginning
Monday, July 14, 2008, the Michigan Department of
Transportation (MDOT) will fully close a one-mile
section of the I-96 freeway from Rosa Parks Boulevard to
I-94 in southwest Detroit for 90 days. New alternate
routes will be posted to assist motorists; Mexicantown,
downtown and Southwest Detroit will continue to be
accessible and open for business and events. (Below
you'll find a collection of maps providing alternate
routes during this 90-day period.)

positions. The 455 room hotel now undergoing a $200
million restoration will open on October 1, 2008. Jobs
