SUNDAY AUGUST 15-17 AT HART PLAZA DETROIT
The
Charles H. Wright Museum invites you, your family and
friends to Encounter... Explore... & Enjoy... the 26th
African World Festival on Detroit’s beautiful Hart Plaza.
This year’s Festival is larger than ever with a performance
by the O’JAYS and our special guest MONIQUE. Feel the energy
as the stage quakes during the annual step competition and
treat yourself to a unique array of mouth watering foods and
cultural shopping experiences.
Hey Kids, there is BIG fun for you too at this year’s
African World Festival. Play your favorite game: Basketball,
Video, Soccer or Rock Climbing. Learn the martial art of
Capoeira, Cricket or Belly Dancing. Explore our new Watoto
Village with storytellers and arts & crafts. Then, groove to
the amazing South African Drum & Dance Troupe, SOWETO STREET
BEAT, with its 100 Djembe Drums getting you into the beat.
