ACTIVITIES DECEMBER 26th 4:00PM

the family your friends and co-workers to C.H. Wright
Museum of African American History located at 315 E.
Warren Avenue @ Brush St. (Detroit) for three days of
free films and family fun celebrating KWANZAA.
Stories of Umoja
Experience the Detroit Association of Black
Storytellers as they dance, sing, and share cultural
experiences through interactive performances that
promote unity, family values and community.
Chess
Witness the strategic moves of the Detroit City
Chess Club and the Metro Detroit Chess Junior Optimist
Octagon International Team as they demonstrate their
skills in historic recreational and competitive game.
Players of all skill levels are welcome to participate.
“Kwanzaa Make and Take Activities”
Exercise your creativity with African inspired
jewelry, decorative bookmarks, flags of Africa and
African Diaspora and other arts and crafts. Following
the arts and craft activities, don’t miss the
opportunity to learn different African dressing
traditions including the gele head tie. (Activities
contain facets of geography, history, and elements of
cultural literacy.)

Spoken Word Café
Join The Rebirth Collective and many of the city’s
most exciting poets in an open mic session at the
Museum. Please come share your own creative expressions
through spoken word. Donations will be accepted for the
St. Bernard Parish New Orleans Relief Fund.
