  Another spectacular Indian Village Holiday Tour now on for 2017

DETROIT - There’s nothing like the ambiance during the Holiday season in Detroit’s Indian Village; the decorated turn of the century homes, each street lined with old fashion gaslights and the warm holiday spirit throughout the community. The Holiday Home Tour only adds to the ambiance by giving visitors an opportunity to see the inside of these one of a kind historic homes.

The Indian Village 2017 Holiday Gala & Tour will be held on Saturday, December 2nd for the Gala and Sunday December 3rd for the Tour. “Guests will tour 5 beautiful historic homes decorated magnificently for the holidays, ending at a surprise location, said Renata Taylor, Chairperson of the event.

The VIP Reception will be held Saturday, December 2nd at one of the exquisitely decorated tour homes; this will be just one of five festively decorated historic homes on the tour this year. VIP Gala Guests will experience an elegant Strolling Dinner and open bar in one of the beautifully decorated homes. Enjoy live music and tour five festively decorated historic homes and the Indian Village neighborhood by Motor coach. Festive holiday attire is suggested. This is a limited event please make reservations early. Tickets are $100 for the Gala.

The annual Indian Village Holiday Tour will be held Sunday, December 3rd. Tickets are $40.00 per person. Tour Five Historic, exquisitely decorated homes for the holiday, and enjoy an Afterglow at a Surprise Location. There will be various Tour Times available from 1 pm – 4 pm. All tours leave from Iroquois Avenue Christ Lutheran Church, 2411 Iroquois (corner of Iroquois & Vernor).

The tour offers just a sample of the quality of architecture and design that you will see on this year’s tour. It’s one experience to drive through the neighborhood and see these elegant homes from the outside, but seeing the interior and learning the history from well informed docents offers a rare opportunity. “It is a very exciting and wonderful event that benefits college students,” said Betty Roberts, member of the IVWGC.

Here’s a sneak preview of just one of the exciting homes on the tour for the first time. It is the R. Hirt Jr. home, owner of the Eastern Market cheese/chocolate shop by the same name (now DeVries & Co 1887) Owner, Rudolf Hirt had it built in 1915, designed by the well-known MacFarlane, Maul & Lentz architect firm of Detroit.
