Detroit area McDonald's Restaurant Owners Award $16,000 in Faith-Based College Scholarship

Sixteen local participating churches each selected one scholarship winner

DETROIT - A group of 16 accomplished students involved in their churches and communities each have been selected to receive $1,000 for college from a scholarship program funded by the Detroit area McDonald’s restaurant owners.

Each church named one winner following a thorough selection process that included longstanding church membership, a 500-word essay highlighting leadership skills and community involvement, a 3.5 grade-point average during senior year, and proof of college or vocational school acceptance. The scholarships may be used for any education-related expense, such as tuition, books, classroom materials or housing.

All 16 scholarship recipients are now college freshmen whose persuasive application essays demonstrated a desire to practice their faith, pursue fulfilling careers and make a difference by helping people in need.

The McDonald’s Faith-Based College Scholarship Program is one example of the many ways in which the Detroit area McDonald’s restaurant owners give back to the communities in which they do business.
