opens
for
Detroit
kids
this
Friday
and
Saturday,
August
22-23
DETROIT,

- The
inaugural
sessions
of the
Metro
Detroit
Excellence
Tennis
camp are
to be
held for
two days
on
Friday,
August
22 and
Saturday,
August
23, at
the
Barcus
Tennis
Facility,
Farwell
Field,
2655 E.
Outer
Drive,
Detroit.
This
Camp has
been a
vision
of
founder/director
Charles
Beckham
for many
years as
he has
provided
tennis
activities
for
Detroit's
youth
through
the
program,
'Tennis
for
Kids', a
not-for-profit
organization
created
some
years
ago.
This two
day Camp
will
provide
a
showcase
for
young
tennis
players
who
represent
the
top USTA
nationally
and
locally
ranked
juniors
in metro
Detroit.
Beckham
said, "I
know you
are
proud of
them as
I am -
lets let
other
junior
players,
supporters
and
potential
sponsors
discover
what we
know -
that
metro
Detroit
is home
to some
of the
top
African
American
junior
tennis
players/scholars
in the
country!"
The Camp
next
week
will be
under
the head
instruction
of USPTA
Certified
Instructor,
Dennis
Royal,
assisted
by other
local,
well
known
professionals;
the
format
will
consist
of two
days of
drills,
instructive
matches
and some
match
play.
Camp
will
begin
sharply
at 10
am,
Friday,
August
22; more
details
will be
forthcoming.
The Camp
will be
open to
the
public
and
partisipating
players
will
receive
a CO of
the Camp
activities.
