Scholarship

Service
SOUTHFIELD

Sigma

Sorority,
Inc.,
Southfield
Alumnae
Chapter,
a
service
organization
with a
long
history
of
social
advocacy
and
women’s
empowerment,
presents
its
Founders
Day
Luncheon
on
Saturday,
March 5,
2016.
This
celebratory
luncheon
will be
held
from 11
a.m. to
3 p.m.
at The
Henry
Hotel,
300 Town
Center
Drive,
Dearborn,
Mich.,
48126.
The
theme to
commemorate
the
founding
of the
Sorority’s
103 year
history
is, “The
Power of
Women,
The
Power of
Delta:
Strengthening
Our
Connections.”
Beverly
E.
Smith,
National
First
Vice
President
of Delta
Sigma
Theta
Sorority,
Inc.
will
deliver
the
keynote
address.
The 24th
National
President,
Cynthia
M.A.
Butler-McIntyre,
will
also
speak at
the
occasion.
“As we
celebrate
more
than 100
years of
Sisterhood,
Scholarship
and
Service,
I am
reminded
of the
22
dynamic
collegiate
women
who
founded
our
illustrious
sisterhood
at
Howard
University.
They
used
their
collective
intellect
and
strength
to
promote
academic
excellence,
and to
engage
in
social
action
initiatives
that
would
benefit
the
underserved.
We are
honored
to
continue
this
legacy
while
connecting
and
empowering
women
worldwide”,
says
Danita
L.
Wimbush,
president
of
Southfield
Alumnae
Chapter.
Community
leaders,
professionals,
and
metro
Detroit
influencers
will
experience
the
philanthropic
journey
of the
Sorority
while
dining,
and
being
entertained
by music
and
dance. A
host of
notable
women
across
America
will be
highlighted
in the
Grand
Ballroom
with a
focus on
the
Sorority’s
Five-Point
Programmatic
Thrust:
Economic
Development,
Educational
Development,
International
Awareness
and
Involvement,
Physical
and
Mental
Health,
and
Political
Awareness
and
Involvement.
The cost
of the
luncheon
is $65
and is
open to
the
public.
