Cass Community Book Launch and Ambassadors’ Tour to Benefit Nonprofit Organization

DETROIT, MI (Tell Us Det) - Cass Community Publishing House (CCPH) celebrated its first publication: “This Far By Faith: Twenty Years of Cass Community,” written by Rev. Faith Fowler, at Detroit’s Orchestra Hall. Fowler is also the Executive Director of Cass Community Social Services (Cass) and CCPH Publisher.

“This Far By Faith: Twenty Years of Cass Community” is a collection of short stories highlighting Cass’ work with hungry, homeless, sick and unemployed people, and making clear the universality of their issues. The anecdotes also address the organization’s growth, changes in Detroit and the impact of technology and globalization. The short stories are peppered with humor.

In Detroit, former University of Michigan football coach Lloyd Carr, congressional candidate Debbie Dingell, Detroit News society columnist Chuck Bennett, Comerica SVP Linda Forte, Food Bank President Gerry Brisson and Detroit Lank Bank Authority’s Craig Fahle, will join Rev. Fowler read excerpts from the book.

The Cass Ambassadors, the talented singing group composed of formerly homeless men will entertain patrons. Musical artists Michael Brock, Ron Otis, Marvin Thompson and Cel along with the Cass United Methodist Church choir members joined the Ambassadors and sang as an inspiration for the book’s title.

After the book signing the Ambassadors embarked on a week long, statewide tour. Profits from book sales benefit the work of Cass Community Social Services.
