Years of
Cass
Community,”
written
by Rev.
Faith
Fowler,
at
Detroit’s
Orchestra
Hall.
Fowler
is also
the
Executive
Director
of Cass
Community
Social
Services
(Cass)
and CCPH
Publisher.
“This
Far By
Faith:
Twenty
Years of
Cass
Community”
is a
collection
of short
stories
highlighting
Cass’
work
with
hungry,
homeless,
sick and
unemployed
people,
and
making
clear
the
universality
of their
issues.
The
anecdotes
also
address
the
organization’s
growth,
changes
in
Detroit
and the
impact
of
technology
and
globalization.
The
short
stories
are
peppered
with
humor.
In
Detroit,
former
University
of
Michigan
football
coach
Lloyd
Carr,
congressional
candidate
Debbie
Dingell,
Detroit
News
society
columnist
Chuck
Bennett,
Comerica
SVP
Linda
Forte,
Food
Bank
President
Gerry
Brisson
and
Detroit
Lank
Bank
Authority’s
Craig
Fahle,
will
join
Rev.
Fowler
read
excerpts
from the
book.
The Cass
Ambassadors,
the
talented
singing
group
composed
of
formerly
homeless
men will
entertain
patrons.
Musical
artists
Michael
Brock,
Ron
Otis,
Marvin
Thompson
and Cel
along
with the
Cass
United
Methodist
Church
choir
members
joined
the
Ambassadors
and sang
as an
inspiration
for the
book’s
title.
After
the book
signing
the
Ambassadors
embarked
on a
week
long,
statewide
tour.
Profits
from
book
sales
benefit
the work
of Cass
Community
Social
