Bishop Charles H. Ellis, host 99th annual Pentecostal Assemblies of the World convention August 2-9 at Cobo Center

DETROIT - Bishop Charles H. Ellis, a civic leader in Detroit and pastor of mega-church Greater Grace Temple, is also the Presiding Bishop of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (the second largest predominately African-American pentecostal church organization - behind only the Church of God in Christ). He is the second youngest Presider in the organization's history.

He was honored in March by the Detroit Pistons as one of Detroit's "Game Changers."

The PAW is hosting its 99th annual convention in Detroit, August 2 - 9 at Cobo Convention Center and the Detroit Marriott. Ellis is the primary reason. 8,000 - 10,000 persons are expected to attend the convention. It will also return to Detroit for its 100th Annual convention in 2015.

While in town, the organization's various auxiliaries will be engaged in various workshops, worship services, and business sessions. PAW outreach will also get out into the local communities and will minister in the penal system.

* The Thursday evening worship service will be telecast internationally "live" on Southfield-based "The Word Network."

* Two of our international pastors will lead a soccer match among delegates in our Missions Department at Cobo.

* Bishop Noel Jones, a lifelong PAW member and feature on Oxygen TV's "Preachers of L.A." is the Tuesday evening speaker. He is the brother of actress/model Grace Jones.

* Several new Bishops will be consecrated, and Bishop Ellis is up for re-election at this convention.
