A new way to shop for the holidays with 'gifts that give back'

Toy Room Highlights 11th Annual Kidney Ball with Goal to Raise $550,000

ANN ARBOR, MI - More than 700 children’s toys, books and games will highlight the auction at the 11th annual National Kidney Foundation of Michigan’s Kidney Ball which will be held on December 5, 2015 at 6 p.m. at MotorCity Casino Hotel. Considered on the social scene as “the most fun black tie event in metro Detroit.”

With over 700 notable business executives and socialites gathering to support the organization that helps the more than 900,000 people in Michigan with kidney disease, and the many more at risk. Guests will experience live entertainment from the band Fifty Amp Fuse along with the exceptional MotorCity Casino Hotel food prepared by Executive Chef Scott Stromer and his staff.

“We hope the community will join us in helping the high number of Michigan adults who are affected by kidney disease, and the many others at risk,” said President and CEO of the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan, Dan Carney. “This evening is incredibly important to our community because 70% of kidney disease is preventable and this event helps to fund the nationally recognized programs we have that can help prevent the disease.”

The goal for this year’s Kidney Ball is to raise $550,000 for the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan’s many community programs and services.

The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan was ranked the number one charity in the category of diseases, disorders and disciplines in 2014 by Charity Navigator, the nation’s leading charity evaluator. This year, the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan earned its eighth consecutive 4-star rating from Charity Navigator for sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency.

The 2015 Honorary Co-Chairs of the Kidney Ball are Detroit Tigers Executive Vice President of Business Affairs, Duane McLean; and U.S. Vice President of GM Fleet & Commercial, Ed J. Peper. The Chair of the event is Patrick Rugiero, Executive Director of Roman Village Restaurant Group. The Kidney Ball is generously sponsored by General Motors Fleet, International Outdoor, Lear Corporation, Henry Ford Health System, Mars Chocolate, Meijer, and many more.

The Kidney Ball will begin with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m., dinner at 7:30 p.m. followed by the program, with dancing and entertainment in Sound Board to end the evening. Tickets for the event are $250 per guest and can be purchased by visiting the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan’s website, www.nkfm.org/kidneyball, or by calling the NKFM at 800-482-1455.
