DETROIT
MUNICIPAL
PARKING
DEPARTMENT
EXTENDS
BOOT/IMMOBILIZATION
OPERATION
TO
EVENINGS
AND
WEEKENDS
Through
recent
years,
the City
of
Detroit
Municipal
Parking
Department
(MPD)
has
implemented
several
initiatives
such as
the
Back-On-Track
program,
the
Five-Five-Fifty
program
and
several
variations
of
amnesty
programs
to
encourage
and
offer
alternatives
for
citizens
to pay
their
outstanding
parking
fines.
The
purpose
of these
programs
was to
provide
some
relief
for
citizens
as they
pay
their
parking
tickets.
Although
some
citizens
did take
advantage
of the
programs,
many did
not.
Beginning
Saturday,
August
7, MPD
will
become
more
aggressive
in its
booting
efforts.
It will
begin
immobilizing
vehicles
during
the
evenings
and
weekends.
MPD
encourages
citizens
with
outstanding
parking
tickets
to
resolve
their
fines by
entering
into a
payment
plan,
which
will
require
a down
payment
of
one-third
of the
total
balance.
“Payment
plans
will
suspend
booting
activities
and will
provide
an
opportunity
for
citizens
to pay
their
parking
tickets
during
these
difficult
economic
times,”
said
Shawny
DeBerry,
Director
of the
Municipal
Parking
Department.
Ms.
DeBerry
noted
that
payment
plans
must be
made
prior to
the
booting
of a
vehicle.
Citizens
may
settle
their
record
in full
by phone

plans

in

by
