from the

In the
last two
weeks,
more
than
7,000
Detroit
residents
have
signed
up to
receive
free
emergency
alerts
from the
City of
Detroit
through
the
Nixle
emergency
alert
notification
system.
Nixle is
a
Community
Information
Service
dedicated
to
helping
people
stay
connected
to the
information
that
matters
most,
depending
on ones
physical
location.
You stay
connected
to local
police
department,
your
children’s
schools,
your
local
community
agencies
and
organizations.
Currently
in
Detroit,
the
number
of
registered
residents
has
increased
to
17,238.
These
residents
can
receive
alerts
regarding
various
emergency
situations
within
the
city.
To sign
up for
this
free
service,
residents
should
simply
TEXT the
word
“DETROIT”
in the
message
box to
the
number
888777.
