FOR
YOUTH TO
BE
STRICTLY
ENFORCED
DURING
ANGELS'
NIGHT
DETROIT
- The
City of
Detroit
is
urging
the
parents
and
legal
guardians
of youth
who are
under
eighteen
years of
age to
keep a
watchful
eye on
them
during
the
Angels'
Night
period.
In
addition
to the
City’s
normal
curfew
for
minors,
the City
has
enacted
an
emergency
ordinance,
which
makes it
unlawful
for a
minor
under
eighteen
years of
age to
be on
any
public
street,
sidewalk,
alley,
park,
playground,
vacant
lot or
any
other
unsupervised
outdoor
public
place,
or in
any
arcade,
billiard
or pool
hall,
bowling
alley,
restaurant,
theatre,
or place
of
amusement
or
entertainment
from
Friday
evening,
October
29,
2010, at
6 p.m.,
through
Saturday
morning,
October
30,
2010, at
6 a.m.,
and from
Saturday
evening,
October
30, at 6
p.m.
through
Sunday
morning,
October
31,
2010, at
6 a.m.
During
emergency
curfew
hours,
youth
under
eighteen
years of
age who
are in
public
and
unaccompanied
by a
parent,
legal
guardian,
or a
responsible
adult
who is
over the
age of
21 years
and has
care,
control
or
custody
of the
minor,
will be
in
violation
of the
curfew
and will
be
detained
and
subject
to a
fine,
unless
the
youth is
1)
traveling
to or
from
work or
school,
and 2)
can
present
proof of
employment
or
enrollment.

and

violation
of the
applicable
curfew

to the

they are
stopped.

The City
of
Detroit
reminds
parents
and
legal
guardians
that the
“Parental
Responsibility
Ordinance”
will
continue
to be
enforced
by the
Detroit
Police
Department
when
persons
under
the age
of
seventeen
(17) are
detained
for
curfew
violations
and/or
criminal
activities
during
the
Angels’
Night
period.
The
parent
or legal
guardian
will be
issued a
citation,
have to
appear
in
court,
and will
be
subject
to a
fine.
Repeated
neglect
of
parental
supervision
under
this
statute
could
result
in the
parent
receiving
up to a
$500
fine
and/or
90 days
in jail.
AGAIN,
ALL
NORMAL
AND
EMERGENCY
CURFEWS
WILL BE
STRICTLY
ENFORCED.
