DETROIT
RECREATION DEPARTMENT TO HOST FISHING FUN DAY
ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 8
All
children who love fishing -- or who'd love to give it a
try -- come out this Saturday, Sept. 8, to the Detroit
Recreation Department's Annual Fishing Fun Day at the
DTE Energy/D.N.R. Delray Pier, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Delray Pier is located on W. Jefferson between Waterman
and Livernois next to Historic Fort Wayne.
The event, co-sponsored by DTE Energy, is free for youth
ages 14 and under. The Dip Net Bait and Tackle in Ecorse
will supply bait; however, you will need to bring your
own fishing pole. Enjoy a day of fishing, lunch and
prizes. A memorial tree planting will take place in
honor of the co-founder of the event, Dave Dorrell, who
passed away earlier this year.
We were fortunate to have Dave Dorrell as part of our
recreation team," commented Loren S. Jackson, Detroit
Recreation Department Director. "His vision and passion
for the outdoors helped to create this event and we will
strive to continue it in his honor."
Advanced registration is available at Detroit recreation
centers, or by calling the Southeast District Office at
(313) 224-9010. Registration will also be available on
site the day of the event.
For more information, call (313) 224-9010.
