The
preliminary
examination
in the
case of
Devin
Taylor,
who is
charged
in
homicide
of
3-year-old-girl
in
Detroit
is now
set for
September
20,
2011, at
1:30
p.m., at
36th
District
Court.
Prosecutor
Kym L.
Worthy
charged
Devin
Lamar
Taylor,
21, of
Detroit
in
connection
with the
July 10,
2011
homicide
of
3-year-old Aarie
Berry at
approximately
9:40
p.m., in
the 3100
block of
Canton
in
Detroit.
Earlier
in the
day,
there
was an
altercation
and it
is
alleged
that
Taylor
came
back to
Canton
Street
and
fired
multiple
shots in
retaliation. Aarie
Berry
was
inside
her home
on
Canton
at the
time she
was
fatally
shot.
The
police
were
called
to the
scene
and
observed
the
child
with a
gunshot
wound to
the
head.
She was
conveyed
to
Children’s
Hospital
where
she was
pronounced
dead on
arrival.
Taylor
has been
charged
with
First
Degree
Murder
(Life
without
Parole),
three
counts
of
Assault
with
Intent
to
Murder
(Life or
any term
of
years),
Discharge
of a
Firearm
in a
Building
(4
years)
and
Felony
Firearm.
"The
facts in
this
case are
a
classic
example
of the
truly
innocent
being
literally
gunned
down by
the
truly
ignorant,"
said
Prosecutor
Worthy.
