One
arrested
in
drive-by
shooting
of 7
year old
girl on
Detroit's
westside

On
Sunday,
at
approximately
4:30
p.m., in
the
20400
block of
Charest
Detroit
police
say a
7-year-old
girl
riding
her
bicycle
outside
her
house
was
critically
injured
by
gunfire
being
exchanged
between
two
vehicles.
According
to a
police
spokesperson,
witnesses
say,
there
were 2
vehicles
occupied
by
several
suspects,
firing
shots at
each
other
when
India
Williams
was
shot.
Family
members
told the
media
the
vehicles
came
"flying
up" the
block
and were
swerving,
with one
of the
cars
knocking
over a
garbage
can
shortly
before
the 7
year old
was
shot.
Police
said the
girl was
in
critical
condition
late
Sunday,
but has
since
improved.
With a
driven
sense of
urgency
officers
have
relentlessly
pursued
and
arrested
one
suspect
in
connection
with the
shooting
of
India.
The
arrested
suspect
is
described
as a
Black
Male, 22
years
old. He
is 6’3”
and
weighs
170 lbs.
We are
still
actively
seeking
at least
1
additional
shooting
suspect
in this
incident.
The
wanted
suspect
is
described
as a
Black
male, 36
years
old,
6’1”,
dark
complexion
and is
bald.
