DETROIT DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND WELLNESS PROMOTION CONTINUES COMMUNITY H1N1 FLU CLINICS

The Detroit Department of Health and Wellness Promotion (DHWP) will continue community H1N1 flu clinics for the CDC recommended target groups at selected Detroit community centers while vaccine is available.

The clinics will continue to distribute free H1N1 flu vaccine during their respective weekday hours, while others have Saturday hours. The center schedules are as follows:

• Butzel Family Center-7737 Kercheval, Tuesdays, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

• Coleman Young Community Center-2751 Robert Bradby Drive, Saturdays;
11 a.m.–3 p.m.

• Heilmann Recreation Center-19601 Crusade, Saturdays, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

• Patton Recreation Center – 2301 Woodmere, Thursdays and Saturdays,
11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

• Northwest Activities Center-18100 Meyers, Wednesdays and Saturdays,
11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

• Herman Kiefer Health Complex - 1151 Taylor, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Wednesday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.and Saturday from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

The target groups have been expanded as more vaccine has been delivered
to the Department. The groups are:

• Pregnant women
• Children six months to 24 years old
• Caregivers, parents and siblings in the home of the child younger than six months old • Individuals 25 to 65 years old with underlying illnesses • Healthcare workers and emergency personnel

Nasal spray is available to healthy individuals ages 2 to 49.
