Dance Camp Hosted by EMU ‘Spirit Team’

YPSILANTI - Here is a chance to introduce and upgrade your dance pedigree to the next level. The 2012 Eastern Michigan Dance Camp will take place on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the Eastern Michigan University Convocation Center headed by dance instructor Jenna Williams. Geared to individuals and school dance teams from grades K-8 the full day of activities will conclude with an on the court presentation along with the EMU Spirit Dance Team.

The clinic will include instruction on technical skills, routine retention and step proficiency. Nutrition, stretching and core-strength as life skills will be touched upon. Novice choreographic language will be introduced. A camp tee-shirt will be provided, along with snacks and hydration. Two tickets (one for the dancer) will be part of the registration package for the EMU women’s basketball game.

Performers should wear black slacks or black dance pants, black jazz shoes or black tennis shoes. There is a $20 fee and check-in starts at 9:30 a.m. There will be a post game photo session with ‘SWOOP’, the popular EMU mascot.

Saturday is also National Girls and Women in Sports Day. The American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance is helping to promote activities this week to draw awareness to women’s sports.
