City of
Detroit
offices
close
for two
weeks,
Dec. 22
and Jan.
3
Many
City of
Detroit
offices
will be
closed
from
December
19, 2011
through
Jan. 3,
2012 in
observance
of
Christmas
and New
Year’s
and for
budget
furlough.
Normal
police,
fire,
bus,
lighting
and
water/sewerage
services
also
will be
provided.
These
departments
or
offices
will be
open:

• The
Detroit
Department
of
Transportation
(DDOT)
will
operate
bus
service
on
Christmas
and New
Year’s
Day as a
Sunday
schedule.
Regular
weekday
bus
service
will be
provided
on Dec.
24 and
Dec. 31.
• The
Department
of
Public
Works
will NOT
collect
refuse
and
recycling
on
Monday,
Dec. 26
and
Monday,
Jan. 2.
During
both
weeks,
DPW
crews
will
collect
refuse
and
recycling
one day
later.
Monday’s
collection
will be
picked
up on
Tuesday,
and
Tuesday’s
collection
will
take
place on
Wednesday
and so
forth.
• The
Detroit
People
Mover
will not
operate
on
Christmas
and New
Year’s
Day. On
Dec. 24,
the
People
Mover
will
operate
from 11
a.m. –
11 p.m.
The
People
Mover
also
will
operate
on Dec.
31 from
noon – 3
a.m.
In
addition,
the
following
City of
Detroit
offices
will be
closed
on
Thursday,
Dec. 22
and
Tuesday,
Jan. 3
because
of
budget-mandated
furlough:
