The Coleman A. Young Municipal Center is Back in Business
Detroit
The Coleman A. Young Municipal building will reopen on
Wednesday, July 9th The building will be open to both
employees and the general public for regular business.
Employees should report at their regularly scheduled times
after 7:30 am.
"It was important that we continued to conduct the City's
business while most of our employees were either off on an
extended vacation or shifted to an alternate location," said
Mayor Kilpatrick.
The Building Authority was
able to obtain all of the necessary sign-offs to ensure the
safety of both employees and the visiting public. Those
include environmental and fire inspections.
The Coleman A. Young Municipal Center closed down Friday,
June 27th after lightening struck a transformer sending a
surge to three servers housed in the County's basement,
starting a fire. Both City and County services were moved
alternate locations including the Mayor's Office and the
City Council to allow them to function as close to normal
basis as possible.
