CITY EMPLOYEES ASSIGNED TO CADILLAC TOWER SHOULD NOT REPORT
TO WORK MONDAY JULY 7
DETROIT--Cadillac
Tower this afternoon lost power to its primary and secondary
transformers because of flooding in the basement do to the
failure of sump pumps. City employees assigned to Cadillac
Tower should not report to work on Monday, July 7. It has
not been determined when power will be restored.
Mayor Kwame M. Kilpatrick this evening implemented Executive
Order #7. This order is the policy dealing with service and
time keeping policies during unusual operating conditions.
All city employees assigned to Cadillac Tower are relieved
of duty Monday, July 7 and are allowed to use vacation or
compensatory time, or receive no pay time during the period
when Cadillac Tower will be closed. All employees involved
in essential work who will be required to report to work on
Monday will be notified by their supervisor.
Buildings & Safety Engineering Department Inspectors working
from Cadillac Tower last week should report to the building
at their regularly scheduled time. Public Works City
Engineering Project Engineers and Construction Inspectors
are to report to the lobby of Cadillac Tower at 7:30 a.m.
Cadillac Tower is owned by the Farbman Group. The City of
Detroit leases space in the building.
On Saturday June 28 Mayor Kilpatrick had to announce plans
to continue government operations as repairs are made to the
Coleman A. Young Municipal Center (CAYMC) after power was
lost do to three high performance transformers being zapped
by lighting. CAYMC remains closed.
Primary city services such as Police, Fire, Water, Public
Works, Recreation, Health, Department of Transportation,
Public Lighting, Municipal Parking, People Mover, City
Airport, and General Services will continue to operate
without interruption.
