Interim
CEO
Tiffany
Gunter
steps
down
DETROIT-
Tiffany
Gunter,
interim
CEO of
the
Regional
Transit
Authority
of
Southeast
Michigan
(RTA)
has
submitted
her
resignation
to the
RTA
Board of
Directors
effective
January
2, 2018.
She has
been
offered
and
accepted
another
position
according
to Board
Chairman
Paul
Hillegonds.
“While
we are
saddened
by the
news
that
Tiffany
will be
leaving
us in
January
2018, we
are
tremendously
proud of
what she
has
accomplished
while
leading
the RTA.
Tiffany
has done
a
stellar
job
during a
very
difficult
period.
In the
past
year,
the
transition
to
Tiffany's
leadership
has been
outstanding.
She's
been a
true and
dedicated
leader
for the
RTA. The
board
had high
confidence
in her
ability
and she
did not
let us
down. We
are very
thankful
for what
she was
able to
accomplish
in a
very
short
time,"
Hillegonds
said.
Ms.
Gunter
has
served
in
various
leadership
positions
with the
RTA
since
2014.
She led
the
charge
to
secure
contracts
for all
internal
and
external
administrative
and
planning
functions.
She also
managed
all
major
planning
projects
for the
organization,
developed
a
balanced
budget
with
modest
and
limited
funding,
assisted
in the
creation
of
policies
for the
board to
review
and
consider,
hired
and
managed
our
administrative
team,
and
worked
closely
with the
transit
providers
as well
as
senior
political
leadership
in the
region.
“It
has been
an
absolute
pleasure
to serve
the RTA
Board
since we
began
this
journey
and I am
so proud
of all
that we
have
accomplished
together.
I want
to take
this
opportunity
to thank
the
board
and all
the
stakeholders
for
being
unwavering
in their
support
of this
organization
and of
my
leadership.
I will
continue
to be an
advocate
for
improved
transit
and know
that
this
important
work
will
continue,”
Gunter
stated.
Mr.
Hillegonds
also
announced
that
Carmine
Palombo,
deputy
director
of
SEMCOG
will be
on loan
to the
RTA
beginning
in
January
until a
permanent
CEO has
been
hired.

the
Regional
Transit
Authority
of
Southeast
Michigan
(RTA)
The
RTA was
created
in 2012
to plan
for and
coordinate
public
transportation
in the
four-county
Southeast
Michigan
region,
including
developing
a plan
for
rapid
transit.
It has a
10-member
board
whose
members
are
appointed
for
three-year
terms by
the
county
executives
of
Wayne,
Oakland
and
Macomb
counties,
the
chair of
the
Washtenaw
County
Board of
Commissioners,
the
Mayor of
Detroit,
and the
Governor
of
Michigan.
The
Governor's
appointee
serves
as chair
and
without
a vote.
