  Ford CEO Jim Hackett added as a keynote during the 2018 Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas

DEARBORN, MI (Tell Us USA) - Ford Motor Company's President and CEO Jim Hackett will deliver a keynote address highlighting mobility solutions and smart cities at CES 2018.

Under Hackett’s leadership, together with Bill Ford, has committed to becoming the world’s most trusted mobility company, designing smart vehicles for a smart world that help people move more safely, confidently and freely.

Self-driving cars are closer to becoming a part of our daily lives than ever before. We now find ourselves entering a world of fully autonomous vehicles at every intersection, city and town. This is why we'll need to update todays infrastructure.

With the Internet of Things (IoT) as a foundation, technologies such as automated street lighting, smart energy meters, parking assistance apps and sensors will have ability to make cities safer and more accessible.

Ford Motor Company also made a $5 million contribution to the American Center for Mobility to support connected and automated vehicle technology development.

The American Center for Mobility is a non-profit testing, education and product development facility for future mobility, designed to enable safe validation and self-certification of connected and automated vehicle technology, and to accelerate the development of voluntary standards.

Prior to serving in his current role, Hackett was chairman of Ford Smart Mobility LLC, a subsidiary of Ford formed to accelerate the company’s plans to design, build, grow and invest in emerging mobility services. He was named to the position March 10, 2016.

Before joining Ford Smart Mobility, Hackett served as a member of the Ford Motor Company Board of Directors beginning in 2013. As a member of the Sustainability and Innovation committee, he was actively involved with the Ford senior leadership team in launching the company’s Ford Smart Mobility plan. He also served on the Audit and the Nominating and Governance committees.
