Las Vegas style with a Motor City twist best describes Motor City Casino and hotel. The grand-opening of the final phase rolled out with a VIP Gala complete with flashing lights, cameras, and lots of action, Detroit style.

Consisting of three buildings: the convention center and concert theater, a casino with four star restaurants and nightclubs, hotel with business center,  along with a full service health spa.

Instead of launching a black-tie affair for their grand-opening reception; the theme for the evening was Detroit Rock'n Chic attire at Motor City Casino Convention Center.

This will be a new destination for visitors from all over the world to come and experience the Detroit brand of high performance hospitality, said Marian Ilitch. Ive always believed in Detroit, and in expanding MotorCity Casino, our team wanted to preserve what makes our heritage truly Detroit while investing in the new components that make it an entertainment destination.

After a three year renovation; the freshly remodeled casino now resides in a 1-million-sqaure-foot space, as it places the spotlight on the finer side of "Detroit Rock City".

The evening was filled with an exciting eat, drink and be merry atmosphere. There was an arts-and-crafts section where guests could design crafty hats to let the good times roll, a Nintendo Games section, dance floor, entertainment and refreshments.

This is a little bit of good news, coming after a long period of bad news. Its really exciting, when you look at this crowd, you look at the diversity of it its a very cool event, said incoming Detroit Mayor, Ken Cockrell.

It looks like a fantastic facility, it has been a long time coming for Detroit, and Im really happy for the Illitchs and really happy for Detroit. These facilities are really second to none, said Senator Buzz Thomas.

This place (MCC) is rocking the house. This place stands on its own. This place incorporates all the automotive and musical heritage of Detroit, said Chris Ilitch, president and CEO of Ilitch Holdings. We are the only locally owned and operated casino and hotel in the Detroit marketplace and were proud that were able to re-invest in our community, he said.

Motor City Casino is home of Detroits only official AAA Diamond restaurant, Iridescence, which rests on the top floor of the Motor City Casino Hotel. It features 40-ft. high ceiling with iridescent lights hanging from it. The Asian inspired menu is created by renowned Detroit native chef, Adam Hightower, whom most recently worked in Hawaii after managing nine Hilton restaurants.
The renovated hotel has lots to boast about, when it shows off the finer side of the D including, the D-Tour Spa for men and women.

Despite Detroit's gloomy economy, the hotel rooms and spa were fully occupied; business was booming.

I dont think theres any question that they (Motor City Casino/Hotel) will be successful, all three casinos will be competitive, all three will hold their own, and Detroit will be much better for it, said former Detroit Mayor, Dennis Archer.

Motor City Casino raised the bar with all of its new additions including: a 400-room hotel, an 8,000-square-foot full service D-Tour Spa, the new Sound Board Theatre (occupying 1,886 seats), a 67,000-square-foot convention space (including pre-function areas, 7 meeting rooms and 2 board rooms), and a gaming area expanded from 75,000 to 100,000-square-feet, just for starters.

Not your average run-of-the-mill casino, we do things our way. Were always gonna be listening to our customers and were gonna make the changes that our customers tell us we need to make, said Rhonda Cohen, MCC's COO.

The hotel rooms include luxury style suites, 37 plasma televisions, wireless desktop work-stations, deluxe mini bars, I-Pod docking stations, exclusive Molton Brown bath amenities to name a few. Deluxe suites include a plasma TV engraved within the mirrors in the bathrooms and flawless views.

The Sound Board is the casinos premiere theatre, where the bottom floor converts into a dance floor featuring private suites, state of the art digital video, lighting, and high definition sound systems.

The entertainment line-up will be announced next week. Speaking of entertainment; Motor City Casino houses six other night club options:

This is what I call Vegas style. We have two more restaurants that will open in November, and we will be seeing great celebrities in there (Motor City Casino Sound Board Theater), said Lucio Arancibia, vice-president of Food and Beverage Operations of Motor City Casino Hotel.

In a press release, CEO Gregg Solomon said, "It's the best place a musician could play in," and said the only place that rivals it in terms of sound quality is the House of Blues in Las Vegas, known for its acoustic qualities.

Amnesia - an ultra-lounge spot positioned at the top of the hotel including VIP bottle service, possessing a more modern, young, vibrant flare.

Chromatic Lounge - located on the first level of the casino featuring live entertainment from local and nationally known musicians.

Radio Bar - featuring house DJs and live remote broadcasts from local radio stations.

Strut - centrally situated inside the casino main entrance, featuring bar-top video slots.

MCC Spectators - a sports bar located on the ground level of the casino with large HD monitors.

Overdrive Lounge - stylish lounge located near the hotel lobby.

Im happy for my competitors. Without question theres room for all of us, were making room for each other. As the market continues to grow theres a place for all of us; and we can all better serve the community, said Marvin Beatty, Greektown Casino President and owner.
