town
hall
meeting
today at
Wayne
County
community
College's
downtown
campus.
This
free
jobs
fair and
more
included
public
and
private
sector
employers
and job
readiness
workshops
along
with
seminars.
Immediately
following
the jobs
fair,
will be
a town
hall
meeting
to
discuss
jobs
creation
and
strengthening
the
economy.
Members
of the
Congressional
Black
Caucus
will be
present,
including

Emanuel
Cleaver
II

Maxine
Waters

Ed Towns
(NY-10),
James
Clyburn
(SC-6),
Danny K.
Davis

According
to
members
of the
Congressional
Black
Caucus,
the
national
unemployment
rate for
African
Americans
is 16.9
percent.
They say
in Metro
Detroit
it
hovers
around
30
percent.
The job
fair is
part of
an
initiative
to
shrink
that
number.
Lawmakers
say they
plan to
take
concerns
to
Washington
D.C to
search
for ways
to bring
more
opportunities
to
Michigan.
