Reverend Jesse Jackson challenges auto industry to share with people of color

Detroit, MI (Tell Us Det) - Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., founder and president, Rainbow PUSH Coalition will made several announcements at a press conference on Wednesday, October 5 at 10:00 a.m. regarding automotive partnerships, diversity in advertising, state of the economy and goals for 2012. The press conference was held at MGM Grand Hotel located at 1777 Third Street. Additionally, the press conference also framed the automotive discussion for the 12th Annual Global Automotive & Energy Summit, which will be held October 5-6, 2011.

This year’s theme, “One Set of Rules: Leveling the Playing Field,” challenges the automotive industry to enhance its diversity and inclusion business model for people of color. Several executives including vice presidents of global purchasing, chief marketing officers, finance executives and researchers will convene at what has become America’s premier automotive conference for people of color.

“As the automotive industry rebound from the economic downturn, companies must implement a business strategy of inclusion. America did not know how good baseball could be until everyone could play, said Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., founder and president, Rainbow PUSH Coalition. “The auto industry did not know how good their cars designs could be until they utilized people of color in their organizations. It is in that spirit that we appeal to the auto industry to share because inclusion and diversity makes good business sense.”
