CBS Network News to Feature Local Business Owner

Detroit Tech Town entrepreneur Carole Y. Johnson will be featured Tuesday night, May 25th on the CBS Evening News for successfully starting a company in a state with a depressed economy and the highest unemployment rate in the country.

Like many enterprising business owners, Johnson looked around and saw a need that was going unmet. She recognized that while “91% of Americans believe it’s important to be prepared for emergencies, only 58% of households report having taken any steps at all to prepare.”

That gap in preparedness along with Johnson’s own harrowing experience with not being able to reach her son in day care during a crisis, led to the development of e-CYREN (pronounced e-siren); a web based online system that provides immediate access to emergency contact and medical information.
Johnson’s background as a project manager and software engineer enabled her to understand exactly how to design, develop and build e-CYREN. She received support while establishing her business through Tech Town, a research park and incubator for budding entrepreneurs.

You log-in from any computer, set up your profile, and then enter important contact and medical information. Everything from immunization histories to persons authorized to pick up a child from school can be entered into e-CYREN.
