With the
move
downtown,
Chrysler
Group
makes a
clear
commitment
to the
Motor
City
DETROIT
(Tell Us
Det) -
There
are a
number
of
consistent
themes
since
Chrysler
Group
LLC was
formed
through
the
alliance
with
FIAT
Group in
2009.
Improving
manufacturing
and
vehicle
quality,
and
offering
vehicles
that are
as
unique
as our
customers
are two
of them.
Another
is a
clear
commitment
to the
City of
Detroit.
The
latest
example
is
Monday
morning's
announcement
of
moving
about 70
people
into the
former
Dime
Building
in
Detroit.
Now
called
Chrysler
House,
this 23
-story
building
will
occupy
the top
two
floors,
about
33,000
square
feet of
space.
By late
summer,
the
company's
Great
Lakes
Business
Center
will be
in the
Chrysler
House,
and
several
corporate
functions
will
have use
of the
space,
including
an
office
and
conference
area for
company
CEO
Sergio
Marchionne.
"Detroit
is the
place
that we
feel at
home,"
said
Chrysler
Group
CEO
Sergio
Marchionne,
adding
that
once the
workers
move
from the
company's
Auburn
Hills
headquarters,
the
building
will be
referred
to as
'Chrysler
House.'
The
Chrysler
House is
owned by
Rock
Ventures
LLC, one
of
Detroit
businessman
Dan
Gilbert’s
portfolio
of real
estate.
Also,
since
opening
in 1991,
the
Jefferson
North
Assembly
Plant
has
rolled
out Jeep
Grand
Cherokees,
Commanders
and
Dodge
Durangos.
Today,
JNAP
employs
nearly
2,900
people
with
another
1,100
more to
be added
by the
first
quarter
of 2013.
The Mack
complex
turned
out its
first
engine
in 2000,
and
today
employs
about
180
people
at the
two
locations.
In
addition,
this
year,
the
Conner
Avenue
Assembly
Plant
will
once
again
hand-build
SRT
Vipers.
CAAP
will
employ
about
150
people
once
production
is up
and
running.

Viper.
Chrysler
is the
only
U.S.
automaker
with two
manufacturing
operations
within
Detroit
city
limits.
While
our HQ
may be
in
Auburn
Hills
and we
have
assembly,
other
manufacturing
operations
and
offices
