TARGET FIREWORKS, MONDAY, JUNE 23
50th Annual Celebration Features Family-Friendly
Discovery Zone and
Official VIP Rooftop Party Benefiting The Parade Company
DETROIT
–The Parade Company and Target are excited to present the
50th Annual Target Fireworks, one of the nation’s most
spectacular fireworks displays, on Monday, June 23 along the
Detroit International Riverfront in downtown Detroit.
To kickoff the day-long celebration, fireworks fans and
family are invited to The Parade Company Discovery Zone at
GM River Days, where the young and “young at heart” will
participate in interactive games,
enjoy lively entertainment and create fun make-and-take
crafts at Rivard Plaza from 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. The
Official VIP Rooftop Party, a fundraiser for The Parade
Company, takes place atop the Miller Parking Garage from
6:00 – 11:00 p.m. and the Target Fireworks begin at 10:06
p.m.
Target Fireworks – “A Star Spangled Spectacular”
Hundreds of thousands of spectators are expected to attend
the Target Fireworks. The show will feature more than 10,000
pyrotechnic effects choreographed to music by Zambelli
Fireworks Internationale and will be visible for miles along
the Detroit International Riverfront.

In addition to the Official VIP Rooftop Party, spectators
are invited to gather at Hart Plaza and along the Detroit
RiverWalk to view the dazzling fireworks display.
Parade Company Discovery Zone at GM River Days
Located on Rivard Plaza, the Discovery Zone will offer
family-friendly fun at the Blue Cross Blue Shield Kids
Stage, featuring games, merchandise giveaways and a lineup
of kid-friendly performers each day at the Discovery Zone.
Children can transform themselves into pirates at the
Arrrghs and Crafts Pirate Cove where they can join the
Pirate Parade, led by a Swashbuckler in a mini pirate ship
float, three times a day. Ladels Children’s Book Boutique in
Corktown, Detroit will also perform storytelling and puppet
shows for children in a tented theater. Show times will be
posted outside the theater’s entrance.

Rooftop Party
The Official VIP Rooftop Party on Monday, June 23 from 6 –
11 p.m. atop the Miller Parking Garage is the premier party
for the fireworks, featuring the best seats in the city to
view the fireworks display as well as entertainment,
spectacular food, and children’s activities.
The Rooftop Party will highlight the four regions of the
United States: Midwest – featuring Motown Music and Detroit;
Southwest – featuring cowboys, trick ropers and
make-and-take crafts; East Coast – Boardwalk and Baseball
including a family fun casino, interactive sports and summer
fun! and West Coast – Surfs up! featuring a dueling Piano
Bar.

Parade Foundation, which governs The Parade Company. “This

The Parade Company is pleased to introduce The Ultimate 50th
Target Fireworks Giveaway on this special anniversary. To
enter you must submit an essay of 50 words or less and a
photo stating why you should celebrate your 50th milestone
(birthday, anniversary, company's celebration, etc.) at the
50th Anniversary of the Target Fireworks. The winner will
receive four party tickets, one parking pass, one barricade
pass and lots of goodies to the Official VIP Rooftop Party.

The Rooftop Party will also feature the Super Singer Live
contest, presented by WDIV-Local 4, showcasing some of metro
Detroit’s best singers who will compete in a local American
Idol-type contest. The Target Fireworks can be viewed on
WDIV-Local 4’s live broadcast beginning at 9 p.m. and
News/Talk 760 WJR will do a special radio simulcast
throughout the event and provide up to the minute traffic
and weather information throughout the day.
