DETROIT
–The Parade Company and Target are excited to present the
50th Annual Target Fireworks, one of the nation’s most
spectacular fireworks displays, on Monday, June 23 along the
Detroit International Riverfront in downtown Detroit.
To kickoff the day-long celebration, fireworks fans and
family are invited to The Parade Company Discovery Zone at
GM River Days, where the young and “young at heart” will
participate in interactive games,
enjoy lively entertainment and create fun make-and-take
crafts at Rivard Plaza from 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. The
Official VIP Rooftop Party, a fundraiser for The Parade
Company, takes place atop the Miller Parking Garage from
6:00 – 11:00 p.m. and the Target Fireworks begin at 10:06
p.m.

This
year, the Target Fireworks display is scheduled for Monday, June
23 at 10:06 p.m. The Detroit Police Department is employing
various measurers to ensure that spectators of all ages will
continue to have a pleasurable time at major events in the city
of Detroit. Parents are advised to abide by the City of
Detroit’s curfew ordinance and should not drop children off and
leave. In addition, due to the restricted vehicular access into
downtown, parents will not be able to pick them up. The current
curfew is: 15 years old and under – 10 p.m.; 16 and 17 years old
– 11 p.m.

River Days Festival Free Food Offer! All
Cars that park in the River East Garage, Port Atwater or
Franklin Garage will be given $5 in free tickets upon request
that can be used for Food, Drinks or the Carnival. Parking is
only $10, and you will receive $5 in food tickets when you enter
each Garage Deck. FREE OFFER STIPULATION: In

residents and visitors attending the 2008 Target
Fireworks on Monday, June 23 should anticipate heavy
traffic and traffic changes in the downtown area.
Motorists are advised to watch the message boards on
freeway overpasses for updated information on traffic
closures and detours. No vehicular traffic or parking
will be allowed south of Michigan, between Rosa Parks
and the I-375 Freeway. The following traffic changes

Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) will add extra bus
service to several routes for the Target Fireworks on Monday,
June 23. The inbound extra service is being provided to
Detroit-area residents in an effort to save gas, ease congestion
and provide parking-relief savings between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.
As a result of some street closures during this annual
event, passengers who travel on many bus routes going into
downtown Detroit will experience service reroutes. Reroutes

– June will be busting out all over as Detroiters and visitors
celebrate the GM River Days festival on the city’s Riverfront,
June 20-23. More than 100 bands will entertain on six stages and
there will be plenty of family fun on land and water. The city’s
international waterfront will also host the biggest blast of
all, the Target Fireworks on June 23. Festival organizers are
preparing in advance to keep the riverfront area fun, safe and
