Day
Weekend
DETROIT
– The
Detroit
Jazz
Festival,
the
world’s
largest
free
jazz
festival,
is now
offering
online
registration
for its
new
mobile
app that
will
live
stream
performances
from
downtown
Detroit
over the
four-day
festival
weekend
Sept. 2
– 5.
“Detroit
Jazz
Fest
LIVE!,”
will be
available
beginning
Aug. 10,
but fans
can
register
now at
www.detroitjazzfest.com/detroit-jazz-fest-live-streaming-app
and
receive
a
special
discount.
The
streaming
app was
made
possible
with the
help of
a
generous
donation
from the
Doris
Duke
Charitable
Foundation
(DDCF).
In
addition
to live
streaming
of
one-of-a-kind
performances
throughout
the
weekend,
the app
will
offer
instant
access
to the
complete
event
schedule,
festival
map,
artist
info and
additional
details
about
the
festival.

and

The app,
available
for any
mobile
device,
tablet
or
desktop
computer,
will be
available
for $30
for full
weekend
access,
but the
festival
is
reducing
the cost
by 50
percent
through
Aug. 10.

Users
can
watch
performances
from all
four
stages,
with
more
than 15
performances
per day
and over
50
throughout
the
weekend.
This
year’s
Artist-in-Residence,
legendary
Detroit
bassist
Ron
Carter,
will
perform
four
times
throughout
the
weekend
–
including
nonet,
trio,
quartet
and big
band
sets –
in
addition
to
hundreds
of other
performers,
ranging
from
up-and-coming
artists,
to
well-respected
industry
veterans,
to
student
bands.
Part of
the
festival
focus is
on
performance
series’
including
the
Homecoming
Series
featuring
Detroit-focused
programming
and
artists
and two
new
series,
the “New
Voices”
series
and
“Legacy”
this
year
celebrating
the
artistry
of Kenn
Cox.
