Late
last
year,
the
Detroit
Sports
Commission
announced
the
launch
of its
$1
million
Living
Legacy
Initiative,
which
will
promote
youth
literacy
and
sports,
focusing
especially
on
empowering
girls in
sports
in
Detroit
and
surrounding
areas.
The
initiative
played a
crucial
role in
the
DSC's
bid for
the 2024
NFL
Draft
and
extended
efforts
through
the 2027
NCAA
Men's
Final
Four at
Ford
Field
and
beyond.
The
committee
collaborated
closely
with the
Detroit
City
Council
to
ensure
that
non-profit
organizations
operating
in the
education
and
youth
sports
sectors,
regardless
of their
size,
have
access
to
funding.
The
committee
received
60 grant
proposals
from all
nine
members
of the
City
Council.
The
proposals
are
currently
under
review,
and the
recipients
of the
selected
grants
will be
announced
in the
coming
weeks.
